The Warwick goods pilot worked in the two yards from 1 pm to 7 pm, the crew booking on about 11:45am and working light engine from the shed at about 12:30pm. Peter Chater recalls in Great Western Railway Journal No 70 that they did not take a brake van with them, presuming that they picked up one at Warwick that had been dropped off by a local up Bordesley to Leamington goods. The pilot would sort the wagons left on the siding seen above adjacent to the main line. During the shunting any wagons for Coventry Road Yard, situated on the Leamington side of the up platform, were placed aside and later, around mid-afternoon, these were taken across to the up line.
