Another view of ex-LMS 4-6-0 Royal Scott class No 46123 ‘Royal Irish Fusilier’ at the end of Warwick's up platform in June 1962. Following this incident the wagons in the runaway train were detached, re-railed and drawn back towards Budbrooke. Another locomotive then took the coal train on to its destination at Banbury. The locomotive No 46123 however, remained at Warwick for a number of days before being recovered and returned to its allocated shed at Saltley (21A). This locomotive was withdrawn a few months later.

A train-spotter sheltering by the wreckage records British Railways 4-6-0 (Castle) class No 7024 ‘Powis Castle’ on a Snow Hill to Paddington express. Locomotive No 7024 was built in June 1949 at Swindon Works as part of lot 367 and initially allocated to Old Oak Common shed. In March 1959 improvements were made with the fitting of a double chimney and four row superheater, but with the end of steam, No 7024 was withdrawn from Oxley shed north of Wolverhampton in February 1965, having completed over 731,344 miles. No 7024 was sold to Cashmore for disposal.
