The growth of motorised traffic would have reduced both the numbers of people moving their own horse drawn vehicles and the number of race horses being transported by railway to nearby Warwick Racecourse. Eventually the decline saw the complete removal of this facility with the bay platform at the other end of the platform being used when required on an ad-hoc basis.
