GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Warwick Station: gwrw390a

Close up of image 'gwrw390' showing the various phases of building reflected by the different platform levels of the down platform. The undulating platform edge is a result of the difference in height of the platform on either side of the platform immediately in front of the station building and the face of the platform being indented. This height difference is typical at stations which were rebuilt or had their platforms extended. The 'new' platform would be built to the (then) current specification which required platforms to be higher above the rail in order to enable passengers to embark or disembark from carriages.
