GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Warwick Station: gwrw393b
Close up of image 'gwrw393' showing the much lower platform
level of the platform at the Leamington end of the station. The height of the
platform is much lower than that seen on the section of the down platform's
1892 extension seen in image 'gwrw390a'. The space
between the up and down line is greater than the normal 'six foot' as the line
between Birmingham and Oxford had been opened to accommodate both broad gauge
and standard gauge trains. The bracket signal has been employed to place the
arms over the line to aid visibility. Access to the goods shed and yard would
be controlled by one of the two signals with the other being employed
controlling the line to Leamington.
