GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Widney Manor Station: gwrwm420
A panoramic view of the rebuilt station taken from the
Leamington end of the Down Relief, Platform No 4, with the signal box standing
in the distance. Whilst the Down Relief and island platforms accommodating the
Up Relief and Down Main are new, the Up Main which was Platform 1 also included
the main station building both being part of the original structure. The space
available at Widney Manor meant that the alignment of the extra tracks could be
to one side of the station to accommodate the new Down Relief and Up Relief
lines. This view shows the new platforms were built utilising timber both for
the support framing and in part for the platform surface with wooden planking
used in lieu of paved edging stones.
