Locally built 3-car Metropolitan-Cammell DMU, later TOPS class 101, arrives at Butlers Lane with a Lichfield Service in May 1966. Together with the 2-car Park Royal and Gloucester R.C.& W. units they operated most services until displaced by the Derby Suburban sets, although Birmingham R.C. & W. and Cravens units also appeared from time to time. The square area at the end of the platform on the right, occupied by a couple of abandoned display boards, used to support a small building which was probably a ticket office, although I never remember it being used as such. Passengers for stations to Lichfield had to use the booking office on the Birmingham Platform. Andy Lawton
