Ex-LMS 4-6-2 Coronation class No 46230 'Duchess of Buccleuch', a non-streamlined member of the class, is seen on the up Royal Scot passing platelayers at Brinklow station circa 1952. The running plate in front of the cylinders is continuous unlike the streamliners and was the most obvious visual difference to distinguish non-streamlined and de-streamlined locomotives in the late last years of their service life. Built as No 6230 at Crewe works in June 1938 it remained in service until November 1963 when it was withdrawn from Polmadie shed in Glasgow to be scrapped during December 1963 by Crewe works.
