LMS Route: Rugby to Tamworth

LNWR 2-4-0 1P Precedent class No 381 'Patterdale' is seen standing ready to depart at the head of an up Stafford to Rugby local. Note the trolley parked by the barrow crossing used by the Permanent Way gang to transport materials and tools etc circa 1922. Built at Crewe works inn April 1893 No 381 remained in service until December 1927 when it was withdrawn from service before it could be renumbered as LMS No 5037.
