Close up of image 'lnwr_tam1744' showing the station buildings on Tamworth's up platform which was well equipped with passenger facilities due to the station being an interchange between two major routes. Passenger facilities in the days of steam - in particular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries - contrasted well with those of today. In addition to general waiting rooms ladies only facilities would be available in addition to first class waiting rooms. Behind the platform building were two sidings and the connecting line to the MR line which ran from Derby or Birmingham to Tamworth High Level station.
