View of the junction between New Street entering on the left and Stechford seen entering on the right

View of the junction between New Street entering on the left and Stechford seen entering on the right on 23rd March 1962. To take this photograph DJ Norton is standing in Aston No 1 signal cabin which also controlled the access to Aston shed. Access to the shed was by using the points adjacent to the sand silos seen on the right (the up line to Stechford) and then by crossing over from the line on the right to trackwork adjacent to the signal cabin. The buffer stop in the foreground is the head shunt for the shed's roads. On the left is the short blind siding which protected the main line from runaway wagons off the Windsor Street line.
