The siding on the right was the one used by local merchants and other local businesses and farmers. The two bogie flat wagons stabled on the middle short loop line are part of the Civil Engineering fleet used to transport rails etc. The siding to their left ran for some distance parallel with the Kenilworth branch. This would be used as a refuge siding e.g. reversing goods trains off the main line to clear paths for passenger services. It was used by the railway authorities to stable the coaching stock of the Royal Train whenever it was being deployed in the area. Its use as a refuge siding for the Royal Train lasted well after the Kenilworth branch closed and into the late 20th century.
