LMS Route: Rugby to Leamington Spa (Avenue)
Birdingbury Station: lnwrbird1335
An early post nationalisation view of Birdingbury station
looking towards Rugby with the goods yard and signal box still in use on 22nd
June 1951. The presence of the porters barrow indicates that passengers do
still use the service although not in the numbers to warrant the service to
remain open. The step in front of the station building and the boarded crossing
from the up to the down platform was used by station staff to save them from
walking to the end of the platforms where a porter's barrow crossing can be
seen. This barrow crossing was however the only way passengers could cross the
line. The signal opposite the box has been changed with the original short
lower quadrant signal being replaced with a taller upper quadrant signal.
