All three signals seen, two on the up and one on the down, are pulled off indicating the imminent arrival of trains. As stated elsewhere the signal box was only used when the yard was in action requiring station staff to operate the signals from lever frames. The level crossing that once existed was located beyond the goods yard and was removed in 1893.
