Ex-LNWR 7F 0-8-0 G1 class No 9364 is seen pressed into service to provide motive power for passenger service at the head of an up excursion on 11th June 1949. Whilst uncommon on normal passenger services the use of freight engines during intensive holiday periods was typical and No 9364 has been equipped with both screw couplings and vacuum brake to accommodate such services. Built at Crewe works in June 1918 No 9364 had only a further eighteen months left in service at the time of the photograph being withdrawn in December 1950 from Ryecroft shed in Walsall to be scrapped immediately by Crewe works.
