LMS Period Locomotives: lnwrbns_lms512

LMS 5P4F 2-6-0 'Horwich Crab' No 13034 is seen departing the West end of Platform 3 whilst at the head of a Wolverhampton express service circa 1933. Built by Crewe works in December 1926, No 13034 was a member of a class some 245 strong and initially numbered from 13000 to 13244. Following the LMS 1933 renumbering scheme, the class received the numbers 2700 to 2944. As a result of this change No 13024 became No 2734 later changed to No 42734 by British Railways and which it carried until March 1966 when it was withdrawn from Birkenhead shed to be scrapped in June 1966 by the Central Wagon Company of Ince near Wigan.
