Birmingham New Street Station
LNWR Locomotives: lnwrbns_pg1957
LNWR 0-6-2T Watford Tank No 2037 is seen standing at
Platform 3 running bunker first on a New Street to Walsall local passenger
service June 1905. Richard Foster states in the second volume of his four-part
series on Birmingham New Street - The Story of a Great Station, that No
2037 was allocated to Aston shed at the time of the photograph and the route
the Walsall Express would take would be via Soho Road. To the right of
the locomotive can be seen a standard LNWR water column with its 'bag' (the
cloth tube the water ran through) chained back to the column.
