Birmingham New Street Station: lnwrbns_str1885

Looking along the passenger footbridge from Platform 7 towards Platform 1 and the Queens Hotel with the steps to Platform 7 on either side of the footbridge

Looking along the passenger footbridge from Platform 7 towards Platform 1 and the Queens Hotel with the steps to Platform 7 on either side of the footbridge. It was between Platform 7 and Platform 6 (as now numbered) that the footbridge crossed Queens Drive, the point of which can be seen immediately behind the soldier. The original arched structure with timber cladding on lattice ironwork is now hidden by the castellated walls as can be seen in image 'lnwrbns_str1839'. To the left are what appears to be either enquiries and or booking office windows which must have been added after the Second World War, probably as part of the 1954 'make-over' of the station by British Railways. On the left is a poster advertising BIF - British Industries Fair - which was located on a permanent site at Castle Bromwich. Its pointing to the left for trains and to the right for enquiries whilst to its left is a timetable dedicated only to Castle Bromwich.
