Birmingham New Street Station: lnwrbns_str3081

Looking East along Platform 10 towards Derby with New Street No 2 Signal Cabin on the left in 1957

Looking East along Platform 10 towards Derby with New Street No 2 Signal Cabin on the left in 1957. This view shows the south eastern part of the station looking east towards Tamworth and Derby from platform 10 within the southern span of the Midland side trainshed. Platform 10 was the southernmost of the through platforms. Number 2 signalbox is seen to the left of the locomotive, beyond which the Queen's Drive bridge crosses the lines. The Midland Railway goods office is seen in the right background and the back of the row of shops on Worcester street is on the left. The locomotive appears to be an un-named British Railways Standard Class 7MT 'Britannia Class' 4-6-2 Pacific locomotive, the founder member of the class being seen at New Street in image 'lnwrbns_br2885' with another example seen in image 'lnwrbns_br2926'.
