The opposite face of Platform 5 was designed for bidirectional traffic allowing trains to leave both for Derby and Bristol. The building seen beyond the footbridge accommodated the offices of the Midland Railway's agents. The building on the extreme right accommodated the platform's refreshment rooms and a Ladies Waiting Room. The Gentlemen's facilities were at the far end of the platform, beyond the subway which is just visible.
