View of the throat of Gosford Green goods yard during construction and the footbridge provided for pedestrians. Humber Avenue was cut into two when the railway was built compelling the LNWR to provide pedestrians with the right of way over the route of the former road. On the extreme right and at a slightly higher level than the yard is the Loop Line which would lead onwards to Bell Green goods yard and Three Spires Junction. Once inside the yard the points were operated by hand via levers equipped with a round weight attached to the free end to assist in providing sufficient momentum in the 'throw'.
