The short siding has had a trap point installed to protect the mainline if the wagons accidentally move to the mainline. They worked by derailing the wagon which at slow speeds would then stop and stand on the sleepers. Careful examination shows that a semaphore signal gantry has been installed at this end of the island structure which constitutes platforms two and three.
