The LMS 57 foot replacement turntable was built further towards the signal box and was only given one access road. In this drawing the draughtsman has described Coventry No 1 as a signal box whereas the LNWR described all signal boxes and signal cabins. The shunting spur in front of the shed ran for 175 yards from the buffer stop to the first set of points. Pedestrian access was via a set of steps from Quinton Road. Coventry shed was notable amongst trainspotters as being difficult to 'kop'.
