A 1939 aerial view of the junction of the branchline to Kenilworth, and on the right, Coventry's four road shed. The area to the 'south' of the station is now becoming developed with many houses being built in Cheylesmore. The carriage sidings are almost at capacity, yet the appears to be only a few locomotives standing outside the shed. Reg Instone of the LNWR Society writes, 'Between 1920 and 1939 the four carriage sidings have become six. Also, Quinton Road has been widened up to, but not including, the rail overbridge. The Cheylesmore housing estate was built in the late 1930s on what was once Quinton Park, a royal deer park, and latterly allotments. The bridge must have been widened at a later date. The allotments to the left of the carriage sidings still exist, the only ones in the area'.
