Close up of image 'lnwrcov589' showing adverts on the footbridge staircase including Triumph Motor Cycles on the risers of the steps seen on the 10th April 1953. On the right is a standard LMS telephone booth whilst next to it, nearer the camera, is one of British Automatic Company's metal nameplate stamping machines. During the 1950s these machines printed out a given number letters on a strip of aluminium for one old penny (1d). Many a new apprentice on their first day on the job from one of Coventry's many engineering businesses were sent to the station to print out their name on a strip for fixing on their tool boxes etc. See below for a photograph of a preserved model at Edinburgh Museum reproduced with acknowledgment to Douglas Bryce.
