View of Coventry Station's main entrance looking from Eaton Road with a tram standing at the terminus. The open top tram is an early model of one of Coventry's trams that ran in the city until the damage caused by the blitz of November 1940 resulted in the abandonment of the whole system. The station canopy and buildings behind were new having been built during the 1901-3 period. Beneath the station canopy is a horse drawn vehicle which appears to be some either a LNWR parcels or luggage vehicle based on its shape and its livery. The minimal amount of road traffic at the turn of the century meant that the LNWR did not have to address the need of directing the flow of traffic. Photographs taken in 1916 show road signs hung from the canopy directing vehicles in one direction. See image 'lnwrcov618'.
