Close up showing the new coaling arrangements comprising single road shelter and a coal conveyor

Close up of image 'lnwrcov672' showing the new coaling arrangements comprising single road shelter and a coal conveyor. The coal conveyor would be positioned so that the coal from a wagon would be pushed out into its hopper with the belt moving the coal up and into the tender or bunker. This was obviously a far easier method than having to coal by hand from wagon to the tender or bunker as would have been the case a few years earlier. The wagon on the left is a typical seven plank open wagon designed many years previous to carry a wide range of materials whereas on the right the steel bodied wagon introduced by British Railways was primarily designed for mineral traffic.
