Ex-LMS 2-6-2T 3MT still carrying LMS No 204 is seen alongside ex-LNWR 1P 2-4-2T carrying its new British Railways No 46749 in Coventry shed's yard in the company of several other locomotives mainly of LNWR origin. Nuneaton and Milverton (Warwick) sheds had a batch of these locomotives in the 201 to 209 series. Built by Derby works in March 1938 No 204 survived in service until November 1959 when it was withdrawn from Nuneaton shed where it was stored until it was scrapped during May 1961 at Crewe works. The Precursor Tank was built to a Webb design in the late 19th century at Crewe works - in May 1897 - and only lasted in service for a short time after nationalisation being withdrawn in February 1952 from Milverton shed in Warwick to be scrapped shortly afterwards at Crewe works.
