View of passengers waiting on Coundon Road station's down platform for a Coventry to Nuneaton Trent Valley service. Beneath the British Railway's 'totem' sign displaying the station's name are three fire buckets which would have been filled with sand. The possibility of a fire being caused by one of the hot embers ejected from the chimney of passing locomotives was always a risk particularly more so if the buildings were timber built. The down platform building was of a different design to that seen on the up platform because it was a replacement structure for the original building burnt down in 1896.
