Close up of image 'lnwrcr41' showing the proximity of the signal box and station master's house to the end of the Coal Wharf's first three sidings. According an undated diagram of the wharf in Volume One of Preston Hendry and Powell Hendry's book An Historical Survey of LMS Stations, the tracks in the foreground lead from left to right as follows: Siding No 1, Sidings nos 2 & 3, Sidings 4 & 5, Sidings 6 & 7 whilst the track partly seen ion the right led to the remaining four sidings. Adjacent to siding No 4 is a Bedford lorry being loaded with the aid of a mobile conveyor belt. Between Sidings No 3 and Siding No 4 was Coal Stacking Plot No 1 which had an area of 600 square yards and was subsequently divided into five smaller plots, one of 190 square yards, two of 100 square yards and three of unspecified sizes.
