View of the main landing deck at the New Canal Street end of Curzon Street's warehouse on 25th September 1938. The sign suspended from the roof states 'Notice to drivers of electric trucks. Keep to the left. Drive wherever possible and not propel the vehicle. Give warning and slow down when turning corners. As Richard Foster states, the scene is one of ordered chaos with many trolleys busy moving around the deck moving goods from area to another. The wide variety of merchandise - the huge variety of shapes, sizes and weights - the railways had to handle is clearly evident. Each trolley was identified by a number placed at the driver's end of the trolley - No 55 being the nearest. On the right are the is the cartage yard and cart loading bays. The roof in the foreground, with its decorative diagonal boarded finish is thought to be part of the original London and Birmingham station roof.
