Curzon Street Good Station: lnwrcs2135
Looking along siding No 1 which continued on to the island
platforms of the former excursion station. Originally No 1 siding approached
the excursion station more to the left and only the two island platforms were
served. As can now be seen when compared to Curzon Street's 1888 layout drawing
(see image 'lnwrcs2162c' No 1 siding is now also
serving No 2 siding whereas the link between No 2 siding and the building on
the right has been removed. The widening of the lines into New Street station
required the realignment of the sidings on this side of Curzon Street as well
as the shortening of the island platform. The signal gantry seen on the left
are on the main line into New Street station and are the up inner and down
starting signals. These signals were operated by Proof House Junction signal
cabin which would have been to the left of the photographer. This photograph
was taken in about 1939-40.
