Close up of image 'lnwrcs2154' showing the deck on a Sunday devoid of the frenetic activity that was the rule for six days each week. The goods station closed on a Saturday afternoon and would not open until 5 am on Monday morning. It was normal practice for the gangs to try to clear as much of the goods as possible and to deliver the merchandise before the shift had finished on the Saturday. However, when the shift was finished staff would leave immediately abandoning the trollies, sack trucks and other items as can be seen from this series of photographs. There are four hydraulically powered fixed position cranes seen operating along this one siding giving an understanding as to why the LNWR and then later the LMS could operate some fifty-four cranes at Curzon Street.
