LMS Route: Nuneaton to Coventry

Daimler Halt: lnwrdh3392

A 1912 Ordnance Survey map showing the location of Daimler Halt prior to it being opened in March 1917. In Peter Lee's book 'Nuneaton, Coventry & Leamington Railway' he writes, 'when the Coventry to Nuneaton line opened, a station was erected next to Radford overbridge'. Radford Road over bridge is on the left and Sandy Lane over bridge is on the right. Peter comments that the station either never opened or if it did it closed very quickly as OS maps of the 1880s only show a building in place but not an open station. The Coventry & Nuneaton track plan clearly shows the station marked as Radford station, complete with platforms. The station house apparently lasted until the early 1970s before being demolished and the site cleared. To see a copy of the trackplan see image 'lnwrdh3391'.
