British Railways built Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T No 41322 is seen on a two-coach auto fitted Nuneaton to Leamington local passenger service. Built at Derby works in February 1952 No 41322 was to remain service until June 1964 when it was withdrawn from 83D Exmouth Junction shed to be scrapped in December 1964 by G Cohen of Morriston near Swansea after being stored on shed until October 1964. The class was introduced between 1946 and 1952 and were based on the LMS' Stanier 2-6-2Ts which was, in turn, based on the LMS' Fowler 2-6-2Ts built during the late 1930s. Ten were built by the LMS before nationalisation in 1948 and numbered No 1200 to No 1209 by the LMS. British Railways added 40,000 to the LMS' locomotive numbering scheme so they became No 41200 to No 41209. A further 120 were built by BR, No 41210 to No 41329 with all but the last ten being built at Crewe with the remaining ten being built at Derby. Some fifty of the 120 locomotives were fitted with push-pull equipment, these being No 41210 to No 41220, No 41270 to No 41289 and No 41320 to No 41329.
