An unidentified ex-LMS 2-8-0 8F locomotive is seen working wrong line on a ballast train on 1st February 1965. On the left can be seen the remains of the former branch line sidings now dismantled in foreground, many of chairs are the old Midland Railway inside wedge types. Colin Gorton, who took the photgraph, writes 'I used to put two of these in my car boot to give better wheel-grip during icy weather - it worked too'. The boy on the left is standing on the remains of the landing dock seen in image 'lnwrhiaj2986'. The LNWR Hampton Signal Cabin would have been approximately 100 yards ahead of the the locomotive. The fence seen bottom left ran along the platform edge.
