LMS Route: Hampton in Arden to Whitacre

Looking towards Birmingham, with on the left the LNWR signal cabin controlling the junction, and on the right the former B&DJR station. The LNWR signal cabin replaced the signal cabin seen in the 1880 photograph, see image 'lnwrhiaj707a'. The island platform, located between the main running lines to Birmingham on the left and the ex-Midland Railway lines in the foreground, is now long gone. The signal seen at the end of the disused platform controlled access to the ex-B&DJR branch line, now being used as a long siding for storage of wagons. The timber stored beyond the signal was located at the site of the former B&DJR engine shed.
