A pair of ex-LNWR 2F 0-6-0 'Cauliflower' locomotives are
seen leaving Kenilworth station at the head a local passenger service to
Coventry with approximately eight coaches behind their tenders in 1938. The
locomotives were recorded on the photo as No 8519 and No 8430 but as Harry
Jack of the LNWR
Society writes 'I'm sure one of the engine numbers must have been taken
down wrongly, as the withdrawal dates all seem to be known, and (so far as I
can see) watertight'. The two sets of tracks on the right provided both access
to Kenilworth goods yard as well as providing a refuge loop siding for passing
slow moving goods trains that needed to be shunted out of the paths of the much
more important and faster passenger services.
