An unidentified ex-LNWR 0-6-0 'Cauliflower' goods locomotive
is entering Kenilworth station on a very cold and snowy day with a Coventry to
Leamington passenger service. The 'Cauliflower' locomotives, or to give their
correct name 18 inch Goods, were a well known and powerful LNWR engine with
larger cylinders and wheels designed for express goods but also often used on
passenger trains as seen above. The class could be distinguished from other
LNWR 0-6-0 locomotives by the humps in the footplate to clear the connecting
rod pins and by the company crest on the centre splashers, which earned them
the 'Cauliflower' nickname from its appearance at a distance.
