LMS Route: Nuneaton to Leamington
Kenilworth Station: lnwrk3783
Ex-LNWR 1P 2-4-2T No 6754, sometimes referred to as a 5 foot
6 inch radial tank engine, departs Kenilworth station with a Leamington to
Nuneaton service circa 1938. This photograph has Gordon Coltas' name on the
back but without doubt it is one of HJ Stretton-Wards photographs the negatives
of which were, on his death in the 1950s, sold by Stretton-Ward's lover (who
lived with S-W and his wife!!) to Gordon. Built as LNWR No 1451 by Crewe works
in May 1897, No 6754 was allocated its LMS number in May 1927 which it carried
until December 1947, the last month of the LMS' independence prior to
nationalisation, to be scrapped.
