Kenilworth Junction signalman Frank Prew ready to take the single line staff off a coal train heading towards Leamington. The fine coal seen in the steel mineral wagons indicates that the train was delivering coal to one of the CEGB's power stations, in this instance probably Didcot. Ex-LMS 8F 2-8-0 No 48650 was built as LMS No 8650 by Eastliegh works (LSWR) in October 1943 and was to remain in service until August 1967 when it was withdrawn from 8E Northwich shed to be scrapped by J Buttigieg's of Newport.
