Ex-LMS 4-6-0 6P Rebuilt Patriot No 5526 'Morecambe and Heysham' at the head of a down express entering Kilsby Tunnel in early BR days

Ex-LMS 4-6-0 6P Rebuilt Patriot No 5526 'Morecambe and Heysham' at the head of a down express entering Kilsby Tunnel in early BR days. Built at Derby works in March 1933 No 5526 received its name in October 1937 and was later rebuilt with the standard 2A tapered boiler and returned to traffic on 6th February 1947. The tender is number 9754 taken off Jubilee No 5611 which had acquired it recently as 1941 when the last series of 4F 0-6-0's was built but ordered with Stanier 4000 gallon tenders. It was retired from service in October 1964 being withdrawn from Upperby shed in Carlyle to be scrapped in February 1965 by TW Ward Ltd of Coatbridge Iron Works.
