Another view of Marton station's station master's house and passenger facilities with the boarded crossing in the foreground. The approach to the station was via a driveway from the Oxford Road, which ran between Coventry and Southam and was behind the cameraman. The access road served both passengers and goods traffic, although passengers had to cross the line by using the timber barrow crossing seen in the foreground. When first built the station had just a single line platform with the goods yard was located opposite. When doubled, the second (up) platform had to be located diagonally opposite giving the station a staggered platform layout. As this new platform had to be built on the embankment and bridge which carried the railway over the Oxford Road it was constructed using timber as this was lighter in weight and would not require heavy and substantial foundations. The pointwork seen in front of the down platform leads to the goods yard as seen in image 'lnwrmart1330a'.
