The engineers' signal plan is for an early signalling arrangement current with the scale plan, and shows an additional signal box and outdoor lever frame about 22 chains on the Rugby side of Marlon Station cabin. This box. Nelson's Siding signal box, was adjacent to a minor occupation crossing, and controlled access to two private sidings on the Up side of the line. These sidings probably closed in the late 1890s when the Leamington—Southam—Daventry branch opened, as this passed close to Nelson's works and there would seem to be little point in continuing to haul loads along the highway to the Marton sidings. The signalling arrangements are from an engineers' plan which shows the number of arms, but does not differentiate distant or stop arms, or make clear to which line a signal refers. In the absence of any further information, and given the interest of this early installation, the reconstruction in the 'C' plan has been prepared from the best available data, and in the light of known physical features. The existence of the outer Distants for Marton Station on the Down line would appear to be confirmed by the lever pull plates, lever 24 (even after many years disuse) requiring 23 etc. on its pull plate though painted white.
