LMS Route: Nuneaton to Leamington

View of Herbert Lovell operating the levers in Nuneaton's No 1 Signal Cabin on the last day of service before the Powerbox was brought in to use. The levers inside this and other boxes in the area had 'stirrup' handles instead of the scissor like levers. Herbert's left hand is holding the stirrup which he is pressing downwards to release the lever. Peter Lee writes, 'Herbert started out on the Ashby & Junction line. He still had his A&N Jt. uniform. As the LMS took over he was moved along the line towards Nuneaton. He worked in Weddington Cabin. Nuneaton No 1 Cabin in its heyday had 180 levers in use, worked by two signalmen and a box lad'.
