LMS 5MT 2-6-0 No 2977 is seen standing held by signals opposite Nuneaton station's platform 5 during shunting of the yard. In addition to the semaphore signals instantly recognised on a railway, discs at ground level replicated the signal and the support post of one of discs can be seen in front of the locomotive's pony wheel. Built by the LMS initially as No 13277 at Crewe works in January 1934 - it was renumbered the same year as part of the LMS' renumbering scheme to make provision for the new Stanier classes - and remained in service until June 1966 when it was withdrawn from Heaton shed on the former Cheshire Lines Committee line to be scrapped in September 1966 by Bird's of Long Marston.
