Schematic plan showing the lines from Northampton and Euston at the top and Market Harborough at the bottom. The Northampton route incorporated an up loop line which allowed slow moving trains to be held until faster trains had passed by. A similar facility was made available on the main line to Euston. Hillmorton sidings consisted of six sets and was located next to the Signal Cabin as seen in image 'lnwrrm2622'. The line from Market Harborough was originally double track from Clifton Mill but when the new line was built forming a junction with the Northampton line at Clifton Road Junction, one set of rails was used for part of the bidirectional engine line.
