Close up of image 'lnwrrm3054' showing Rugby No 6 Signal Cabin and the throat to Rugby's Wood Street goods yard and cattle sidings. As part of the LMS' quest to reduce operating costs Rugby No 6 Signal Cabin was replaced in the 1930s with its responsibilities being taken over by Rugby No 5 Signal Cabin. This was achieved by the simple process of inserting an enlarged lever frame within the existing cabin, but on the opposite side of the cabin in order to ensure the cabin could continue to operate without it being closed. The LMS' frame was of a different design to that of the LNWR's which resulted in the levers being closer together thereby allowing the extra levers required to perform the extra duty being accommodated in the same length of cabin.
