LNWR Class C 0-8-0 No 1803 is seen wearing the plain black wartime livery whilst the tender is black and lined

LNWR Class 'C' 0-8-0 No 1803 is seen wearing the plain black wartime livery whilst the tender is black and lined, note too the Bowen-Cooke buffers on the front bufferbeam circa 1920. Originally built at Crewe works in October 1897 as a Class 'A' 0-8-0 Compound locomotive, No 1803 was rebuilt as a Class 'C' locomotive in March 1906 in which form it retained along with its LNWR number it it was withdrawn in October 1927.
