British Railways built Fairburn 4MT 2-6-4T No 42069 stands at the head of a line of withdrawn locomotives next to No 1 shed

British Railways built Fairburn 4MT 2-6-4T No 42069 stands at the head of a line of locomotives next to Rugby No 1 shed circa early 1960s. Built at the former Southern Railway's Brighton works in October 1950, No 42069 remained in service until July 1965 when it was withdrawn from Trafford Park shed.. The next three engines are ex-LMS 4-6-0 Patriot class locomotives which have had their chimneys protected with oil-cloth covers indicating they are being stored whilst the other engines in the line are thought to include one or two ex-LMS Stanier 2-8-0 8F locomotives.
